Recognitions
Student of the Month
Fletcher Primas, one of our South Stars, was selected to represent the Mooresville Graded School District as the Student of the Month! Fletcher was nominated by his teacher, Ms. Vero. In her nomination, Ms. Vero said the following about Fletcher:

"We are excited to recognize Fletcher Primas as our Student of the Month! Fletcher is a great student and friend to others. He has demonstrated outstanding qualities that make him a role model for his peers, including kindness, responsibility, and a positive attitude toward learning. Each morning he comes into our classroom with a big smile on his face ready to learn. He consistently shows a strong commitment to his studies, actively participates in discussions, and offers support to classmates. He is kind, patient, hard working and respectful to all students and teachers in the South Elementary School building. His dedication to doing his best and willingness to go above and beyond embodies the values we strive for in our school community. Fletcher is one of the many great examples of South Stars and I am lucky to have him as a student. Congratulations to Fletcher for this well-deserved recognition! We are proud to celebrate his achievements and look forward to seeing his continued growth!"

Artist of the Month
Donte Steward, a 2nd grade South Star, was recognized as the MGSD Artist of the Month by the Board of Education at the October meeting. Donte was nominated by his art teacher, Ms. Erin Sherrill. South Elementary School had the following words to say about Donte:

"We are thrilled to announce that Donte Steward has been selected as our Artist of the Month! Donte, a talented and imaginative young artist, has shown incredible creativity and dedication to his artwork. He approaches every art project with enthusiasm, creativity and unique artistic style to his work. Whether he is using crayons, paints, or mixed media, his art work shows great imagination and detail. Already this year, Donte has made art at home and brought it in to share with Ms. Sherrill, his art teacher, along with gifting it to other students and friends. He has stopped her in the halls to ask about taking his art to finish at home. We hope his love of art continues to grow in all his future endeavors. We are so proud of his hard work and look forward to seeing how his artistic journey continues to unfold!."

Your art makes the world a happier place, Donte!

Above and Beyond the Call of Duty
The Board of Education recognized Ms. Leslie Emmert, teaching assistant for South Elementary school, as the ABCD award recipient for the month of October. Ms. Emmert was nominated by the South administrative staff.

"We are thrilled and honored to recommend Leslie Emmert for the MGSD ABCD Award. As a dedicated teacher assistant at South Elementary, she consistently demonstrates an unwavering commitment to our students and a remarkable ability to foster a positive and supportive learning environment. Ms. Emmert has gone above and beyond to ensure each student feels valued and supported. She takes the time to build meaningful relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and learning styles. This personalized, compassionate approach not only communicates respect for the child, but also encourages them to engage more fully in their education and provides the foundation for individual growth. In addition, Ms. Emmert is a true team player. She collaborates seamlessly with teachers and staff, supporting a teacher filling a maternity position, providing intensive support to high-needs students, and effectively engaging with students during club time. Her positive attitude and willingness to lend a hand make her a joy to work with, fostering a sense of camaraderie among her colleagues. Her energy is infectious, inspiring both students and colleagues alike to strive for excellence and embrace the joy of learning. One of her cooperating teachers shared that she consistently fills in whenever needed and will do whatever is asked of her. We wholeheartedly endorse Leslie Emmert for the Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Award. Her commitment to student success, collaboration with staff, and positive attitude make her an outstanding candidate for this recognition. She represents the best that is South Elementary and we are grateful for her service!"

Thank you for going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty and building authentic relationships, Ms. Emmert!
