IMPORTANT: Calendar change for Friday, May 1, 2026

Hello MGSD Families,

We are writing to let our families know about a calendar change for Friday, May 1, 2026.

MGSD has a significant number of staff members taking leave to attend an event in Raleigh in support of public education on Friday, May 1.  Despite efforts to cover absences with substitute teachers, as well as assigning all central services employees to substitute, we have determined that we will not be able to adequately cover classrooms to ensure a safe and productive environment for our students.

As a result, Friday, May 1, will now be an Optional Teacher Workday. There will be no school for students on this day. Any changes to after-school activities will be communicated by your child’s school.

We  recognize that this change may create logistical challenges for your family regarding childcare. Please know that we sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued support, and thank you for being such vital partners in our school community.
